The International School of Turin is an independent, co-educational
day school which offers an integrated English language and Italian
programme from nursery-grade 12 for students of all nationalities.
The courses in the Pre-School and Elementary are recognized by the
Italian Ministry of Education. The International School of Turin (ACAT)
prepares students for the Italian state exams in grades 6-8 and the
International Baccalaureate Diploma, as well as meeting the requirements
for a college-preparatory diploma in the United States. The school
is governed by a nine-member Board elected by associated members.
The International School of Turin (ACAT) is accredited by the European
Council of International Schools and the New England Association of
Schools and Colleges.
The high school curriculum at the International School of Turin
(ACAT) follows that of the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme,
with options for US-college preparation. Instruction is in English.
Italian, French and Spanish are taught as foreign languages.
Specialist instruction is provided by art, music, PE, computer
and special needs teachers.
The student body at International School of Turin (ACAT) is comprised
of 20% British and US citizens, 60% host country nationals, and
20% from nineteen other nationalities. Students leaving IST enter
various recognized institutions of higher education throughout the
world.
The International School of Turin (ACAT) school year starts at
the beginning of September and ends in mid-June. There are holidays
in November, two weeks at Christmas, a ski week in February/March
and a week at Easter. The school day is from 09:00 to 15:30 Mondays
through Fridays.
The International School of Turin (ACAT) is housed in renovated
quarters near the castle in Moncalieri, a suburb adjacent to Turin.
Facilities include classrooms, laboratories, libraries, music room,
refectory, and playground area.
Admission to International School of Turin (ACAT) is open to any
foreign student three years or older with priority given to students
whose native language or language of fluency is English. The school
is a recognized testing centre for the PSAT and the SAT.
