St Louis School
St Louis School of Milan is a private, international school, catering
for children from ages two to 14 offering a curriculum based on
the English National Curriculum. The school is in a modern building
in the southeast of Milan within easy reach of public transport
and the city centre. It has its own indoor and outdoor facilities
for football, basketball and volleyball and a gymnasium. Other facilities
include a modern science laboratory, computer room, dining hall
and a DVD video room for use by all sections of the school. The
teaching staff consist of fully qualified experienced teachers.
The Key stage 2, 3 SATS examinations are taken in year 6 and 9.
The Infant School at St Louis School offers a stimulating environment
in which children learn to be away from home, to understand the
importance of routines and rules and to work independently as well
as in group. A good teacher/student ratio is offered and the curriculum
is structured around the following areas of learning: personal,
social and emotional development; communication, language and literacy,
mathematical development, knowledge and understanding of the world,
physical and creative development. Swimming lessons, visits to museum/theatres,
excursions and extra curricular activities are provided.
The children can arrive at school between 08:45 and 09:30 and go
home between 15:45 and 16:00 with a lunch break at noon (lunches
are provided on the premises).
The Primary School of St Louis School (5-11 year olds) follows
a curriculum which provides information and communication technology,
Italian or English as a second language, swimming lessons, excursions,
plays, performance and events, extracurricular activities including
music, ballet, judo, basketball, volleyball, chess and art.
The Middle School of St Louis School provides an academic programme
which aims to support the educational and social transition from
primary to secondary school for students year 7-9 using modern teaching
techniques and specialist teachers. The Middle School students are
highly motivated by daily use of personal laptop computers which
has enhanced learning objectives within numeracy and literacy and
enriched the ICT and science curriculum.
For fluent Italian speakers, there is a special Italian stream
in which the language and culture are provided and students may
take the Italian Primary or Middle State examinations.
The Primary and Middle School starts at 08:45 and finishes at 16:00
from Monday to Friday with a lunch break at 13:00 (lunches are provided
on the premises of St Louis School).
