The International School of Modena was established in 1998. Its primary
function is to provide quality international education for families
of the company Tetra Pak, but enrolment is open to all and at the
present time about one-third of students have no link with Tetra Pak.
This proportion is expected to grow in the coming years as the school
is expanding to meet a strong demand from local and international
families. The International School of Milan is a consultant for the
educational programme and there is close interaction with Milan for
staff and student exchanges.
The International School of Modena is located in newly refurbished
premises about ten miles outside Modena. Facilities are good and
there are specialist areas such as science lab, networked computer
suite, art room, gymnasium, library and design technology workshop.
For a small school, the resources reflect consistent Tetra Pak financial
support to sustain the school's ambitious goals. This is also reflected
in the favourable staffing ratio. The building is shared with the
Swedish School of Modena (also supported by Tetra Pak) and the two
schools collaborate on a daily basis for many joint activities even
if they follow different curriculum programmes. This enhances the
special international flavour that is also reflected in the wide
range of nationalities and language backgrounds of the students.
International School of Modena follows an international curriculum
based on the English school system. The school is designed to provide
a full programme for children between 5-16 years of age and rapid
expansion is envisaged for the elementary section.
